![]() ![]() This guide is aimed at suggesting a wizard build strong across multiple functions (cc, disruption, interrupt, one-on-one melee duelist), no glass noodle, a team-player first and foremost, yet a badass who can in a cinch pull victory from the jaws of defeat should the team be almost overwhelmed, and do so with style to boot. The wizard is one of the most versatile classes in PoE, being able to adjust himself or herself on the fly to do whatever is necessary to help the whole party succeed in any hairy battle situation. This is more a party based guide and I have played this build in a party but it seems strong enough to solo with a few adjustments. Team based or solo (if emphasizing defensive talents first) On PotD and with challenges it might be different, but for that there's Blood Mage.Difficulty: PotD Best Team Role: Crowd Control and off-tank dps On normal-ish difficulty you won't really have time to use all of your spells anyways. I for one do not like caster/caster multis, as I'm generally a fan of high-level and hard-hitting spells. Pretty much any class can multi with Chanter for more of a support focus, although doing so would be more about turning into a jack of all trades instead of a spellcasting specialist. You'll primarily be a melee combatant.Īnother idea is Evoker/Helwalker Monk for some serious glass-cannon action, but I'm not sure if it's actually better at damage dealing than a regular Evoker, but if you like the idea of multiclassing it's there. Either way be aware that if you make a melee wizard you won't so much be throwing fireballs or casting debilitating hexes at your foes. Monk is just generally good, but tends to be a bit more involved than the others and might detract a bit from the mage side. ![]() Rogue does better damage than either, but has poor defences so you'll rely be relying on defensive buffs. Fighter gives you a lot of useful passive abilities with a good balance between offense and defense. ![]() Paladin provides good defenses and can give you some nice support abilities and can do decent burst damage. If you want to play a melee wizard where you summon a weapon, buff yourself and hit people with your magic stick, pretty much all the martial classes are solid. I just think CC and debuffs are way too good in these games to pass up on. I prefer no subclass for the versatility of ALL THE SPELLS, but Evoker is good for a pure blaster looking do just do damage. If you wanna be a caster, pure wizard is the way to go IMO. Instead, after submission, click the button under your post to assign the appropriate link flair, which will produce the same spoiler tags.
